Managing Apple TV Devices


By integrating your Apple TV's into the SyAM Mobile Device Management they will be tracked and inventoried automatically along with your other iOS devices.



Enrolling Apple TV


As there is no Safari browser on the Apple TV you must enroll the device by using Apple Configurator 2.0




First you need to copy the MDM Trusted Root Certificate from your MDM Server and save it on the MAC. See Backing up MDM Server Certificates


Open up Apple Configurator and select File - New Profile


Give the profile a name





Select Certificates on the let hand menu - click Configure - Now select the MDM Trusted Root Certificate file and press done




Save the Profile



From the MAC open up a web browser and enter the URL used for MDM Device enrollment




Enter the  user name and password for the group setup for the Apple TVs



Save the enrollment profile file.









Join the Apple TV to the MAC running Apple Configurator 2.0 with the USB cable.


Once the Apple TV Device is shown on the user interface you can Click on Add Profiles



Select the profile that you created which contains the MDM Trusted Root Certificate



Next Add the Profile that you downloaded for enrolling into your MDM Server.




Once both profiles have been added the Apple TV Device will be enrolled and managed by your MDM Server.



The Apple TV Device will now appear in the MDM group you enrolled it into




The Apple TV Device will automatically update the Asset Database

Currently the Apple TV doesn't support the list of Applications installed







Support for Profiles

You can deploy WiFi Profiles to Apple TV Devices



App Deployment

Currently there is no support for deploying Apps to the Apple TV device
